Our Story

The Attic came out of our commitment to making good products available to our friends & neighbors. The items we sell are the pieces to the kitchen management puzzle that you’ve been missing.

We decided to use one of our other rented spaces in the floor above to Co-op to give our general merchandise a place to shine.

The Vision

We’re focusing on sustainable solutions to common household products. There’s an element of local gift makers. And in a continued effort to keep items alive longer, we chose to use antique furniture to display all these products! We want you to feel like you walked into a curated shopping experience. Pro tip: even the furniture the products are on are for sale if you see something you like!

Our Adventures

Where did we find all these things? We found a lot of our furniture at Collinsville Antiques in New Hartford, CT. Some of them came from our neighbors who were selling pieces on Facebook Marketplace. Some of the lighting fixtures were given to us by friends. Through this process, we’ve rented two U-Haul trucks, and travelled to Chester, Valatie, Egremont, Schodack Landing, and more, meeting awesome people and hearing about the histories of the pieces we collected.

Building the Space

Bradley Architects was our guide, and A.J. Schnopp Construction made our vision come true. We connected over our mutual loves of sustainable solutions, and the process was educational and fun, actually. Our lovely live edge countertop from Berkshire Wood Products came to us from a jatoba tree and really pulls it all together.
